Rain, nor cold, could stop the Bucs today from having season's best performances at the 2019 Region 6AAAAAA Championship at Allatoona Creek Park. The course was wet and muddy and posed challenges for all runners, but the Bucs showed up and ran hard.
The Varsity Girls race was a highly anticipated race this year with three teams all having a chance of winning the region. In a close fought battle, Allatoona finished in front of Harrison by four points to claim the title. The Lady Bucs were led by freshman, Kelsey Grass, who was the individual runner up and ran a personal best of 19:25. The team averaged 20:01. This is the Varsity Girl's first region title since 2014.
The Varsity Boys finished runner-ups to cross town rival Harrison by edging out Creekview. Gabe Bowman led the Bucs and finished 6th overall with a time of 16:51. The team averaged 17:27 overall. This marks the Boys Varsity fourth region runner up finish in the school's history.
The Varsity teams both qualified for GHSA State XC Championship on November 1st in Carrollton.
