Philosophy:
In some way, cross-country will be a very rewarding experience for every runner, every season at Allatoona. Our time spent together will be positive and fun, but also serious. We want to teach our boys and girls how to become runners. We want our runners to learn success through quality physical, mental, and emotional preparation. If they can run through a season of cross-country at Allatoona, they can run through anything in life!
On the Team:
Always put your team first. This is your team, pay attention to all the details in everything we do! Your effort and the choices you make determine our success! “Character counts or cuts, it’s your choice!”
On Academics and Athletics:
It is a choice to run cross-country! If you choose to be a cross-country runner, you must choose to place academics first. There is a strong correlation between academic and cross-country achievement. If you are great in the classroom you will be great at cross-country and vice versa! Be proactive when it comes to your class work, class assignments, quizzes, and tests to avoid any conflict with practices and meets. Great school behavior should also be important to our runners.
On Training:
Training hard and resting are equally important! Our most important training goal is the health of every runner. Listen to your coaches and follow our training plan to help stay injury free and to keep running and racing.
Winning vs. Success:
Success is important and will be defined in many ways for our team and each of our runners. We will set team and individual goals every season and try to achieve them. Our success starts with training hard and putting our team first.
Winning will a part of our success, especially at our REGION, COUNTY, and STATE championships!
We love medals and trophies! Earning medals and trophies is like payday after a week’s worth of hard work! Let’s collect as many as we can. “HARD WORK = HARDWARE!”
Season Goals – 2009:
1.Runner ownership - fund raise $ to help our program!
2.Run competitively at all meets.
3.Qualify for state championships – top 4 at Region 7-AAAA.
