Dave Ravenscraft- Head Coach

I am very excited about being at Allatoona.  Before coming to AHS, Iwas the head cross country coach at Kennesaw Mountain.  I started at Kennesaw Mountain in the year 2000, the year the school opened.

Before coming to Kennesaw Mountain, I was a cross country and track coach at Wheeler High School from 1990 to 1997.  I took one year off before

starting the Kennesaw Mountain program.  I am currently teaching PE at Hayes Elementary and I have been there since 1998.  I spent 1 year at East Cobb Middle School and 6 years at Riverside Elementary before

coming to Hayes.

I am originally from Pennsylvania, born and raised in Sharon.  I graduated from Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania in 1988 BS), and in 1995 (MS).  After graduating, my wife and I moved to Cobb County to teach and we have been here ever since.  I have been running since I was a sophomore in high school.  I did run for Slippery Rock for 4 years competing in cross country and distance events in indoor and outdoor track. 

My running experience now continues past 28 years!  My wife, Carol, and four children, Lindsay (12), Eric (8), Maddy (6) and Mark (4) also run and they enjoy being a part of my team.   If our family isn’t running, then you can find us camping, fishing, hiking, or doing any

other kind of outdoor activity!

Family is what it is all about for me, and as your cross country coach I will try to do everything I can to make everyone involved with our program feel like they are a part of “one big family”!
